What is the difference between Amazon and Shopify?
In the world of Ecommerce, we find different tools that we can use as entrepreneurs especially when starting our private brand.
When talking about Amazon and Shopify we must clarify that they are two completely different things.
In both, you sell products online.
What is Amazon?
It’s the largest and most important Ecommerce company in the world, it is the largest online mall that exists worldwide.
What is Shopify?
It’s a platform that allows you to create your own online store, specialized in Ecommerce.
It allows you to create an online store without technical knowledge and without having to worry about updates of plugins, versions, servers, etc.
Amazon:
- Being an Amazon seller you are selling your products on the Amazon platform, with all its benefits, customer service, etc.
- On Amazon you have the traffic, the reputation, the good name, established for years and the fruit of the marketing they do on a daily basis. It is no secret to anyone that it is the number one page, the most sought after in the world.
Shopify:
- In Shopify you must create traffic to your page.
- In Shopify you sell your products on your own website.
When you start creating your own brand, you must have several channels in which your products are going to be made known and having a website is one of them, but not the only one.
According to a recent study, the big brands that also sell on Amazon, 80% of their total sales come from Amazon and 20% from their page or online store.
Shopify is not a competitor to Amazon. You as an internet marketer should plan to have both. Our opinion Amazon first and Shopify later.
